2026 Executive Board

Ellen Bezanson (she/her), Policy Director

Ellen Bezanson was born and raised in the Bay Area, where she first became involved in
political organizing and developed a strong commitment to civic engagement and progressive
values. She later moved to attend California State University, Sacramento, where she earned a
B.A. in Political Science. During her time in college and beyond, Ellen became deeply involved
in College Democrats, building experience in grassroots organizing and campaign strategy.

Professionally, Ellen works as an Organizer with the Sacramento Central Labor Council, where
she focuses on union organizing, worker advocacy, and building power for working people
across the region. In this role, she collaborates closely with labor leaders and community
partners to support organizing campaigns and advance policies that protect workers’ rights.
Through both her professional and volunteer work, Ellen remains committed to building
inclusive, people-powered movements in the Sacramento region.


During her involvement with Young Democrats, Ellen has helped lead and support numerous
local and statewide actions, bringing together young people to advocate for Democratic
candidates and issues that directly impact their communities. Most recently, she played a key
role in the Prop 50 campaign, where she helped mobilize volunteers to contact more than
22,000 voters in less than a month. Her dedication has led her to serve on the Sacramento
County Young Democrats Board for the past three years. Ellen is now honored to serve as
Treasurer where she hopes to continue to foster community and build upon progressive values.
