Raayan Mohtashemi (he/him), Policy Director

Raayan Mohtashemi is a policy analyst with four years of experience in the California State Senate. A self-avowed policy wonk, outside of his work on complex legislation, he volunteers with issue-oriented groups in the Sacramento Area - including Slow Down Sacramento (where he is a board member), House Sacramento, and Strong SacTown.

An active volunteer with Sacramento County Young Democrats and an appointee to the California Young Democrats' Legislation and Policy committee, Raayan believes that a strong policy foundation helps SCYD members better vet candidates and measures for alignment with their priorities.

Raayan looks forward to leveraging his policy background to help SCYD members deepen their familiarity with issue areas and policy skills of interest, enhance connections between SCYD and local issue-oriented groups, and access professional development and advocacy opportunities.
